The berlin wall was hated by everyone in east Berlin. I was one of them. Secretly me and my family whispered about the communists and how we hated them, but we never said anything in public.
My friends brother tried to escape a year before the Brelin wall fell but he was killed. So I didn´t try it.
Then about a week before, I started to feel it. I started to feel that something was going to happen. At first I thought I was just going crazy from everything but as the day was coming closer I felt the feeling increase. Of course, we didn´t know what would happen but maybe somewhere very deep inside everyone knew that this couldn´t last very much longer.
After supper my father turned on the TV to watch the news. When we heard a man say we could go away, everyone was delighted.
It took only seconds for us to get outof shock.
I ran into my tiny room and took only the most precious things including my favourite teddy bear.
I grabbed our small dog under one arm and swung my ruksack onto my shoulder.
My family was ready too. We jumped into our old beige Skoda and sped to the Gate. We jumped out of our car and ran to the gate.
Already there were about 100 people there. They were explaining the whole thing to the confused guards.
Soon we were running through the gates to West Berlin and leaving the guards confused and embarresed.
