John Ronald Reuel Tolkien was born on the 3rd of January 1892 in South Africa. He died on 2nd Septemer 1973 (aged 81)in England. When his father,Arthur Reuel Tolkien, married his wife,Mabel, he got a new job in South Africa. He took it and they moved there. There they had two sons. One of them was John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.
When Tolkien was three years old he , his mother and his brother went to England for a family holiday. His Father was to come when he fineshed his work in South Africa. Sadly, Arthur died. Mabel was left in England without anything. They had a hard time. Tolkien and his brother were taught at home by their mother. Tolkien was a very keen student.
When he finished university he married Edith Mary Bratt. They had four children.
Tolkien wrote many books including: The Hobbit and the Lord of the Rings.
